The drain is designed according to EHEDG guidelines for hygienic design and is fully inspectable without bacteria-collecting joints. Smooth radii and surfaces make cleaning and inspection easy.

FURO 173 is constructed with proper floor connections to maintain a hygienic zone around the drain and features a removable trap that can be easily disassembled for cleaning and maintenance. The slotted grating is open and fully welded, while slotted covers and strainer plates are joint-free.
